My Wow!House experience
Design, like all visual arts, serves as both a mirror and a window into the society in which we live. It reflects the tensions, forces, and issues of our time, while simultaneously drawing inspiration from past styles and trends. Each design choice is a response to and an expression of our feelings.
That, among other things, was for me the WOW! House at the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour. The 19 rooms each conveyed a distinct emotion, yet I found a common thread running through them all, the same motivation driving the creation of these stunning spaces.
The red thread is nature in all its beauty. Nature takes center stage in various ways in all rooms, in different ways and despite the diversity of styles and periods of inspiration. It is always present in its organic forms and elements: leaves, flowers, and plants have filled the rooms throughout wallpapers, rugs, decor, and lighting. The color palette is rich with earth tones, featuring shades of browns, greens, blues, and pinks.
While I found that nature is the safety blanket we need, the ceiling also emerged as a source of inspiration. It transforms from a mere structural element into something we can admire and draw inspiration from. It is decorated, filled with dreamy images and lighting used as a statement becoming an integral part of the design.
In design, it's often the small details that make the most significant impact. The attention to detail can transform a space from ordinary to extraordinary, creating an immersive and cohesive environment. I found the choices of all the small details and accessories amazing, there is a meticulous attention to detail that is evident in every corner. Each element is carefully selected and thoughtfully placed to contribute to the overall aesthetic and feel of the room, nothing is left to chance.
The result is a series of spaces where every detail has been meticulously considered, enhancing the beauty and functionality of each room. It’s a testament to the power of thoughtful design and the profound impact that attention to detail can have on our experiences within a space.
In all the rooms, there is a palpable love for quality, history, and tradition. Each element is used with remarkable cleverness, often infused with a touch of the surreal. This dedication to excellence is evident in the meticulous selection of materials, the thoughtful integration of historical influences, and the imaginative design choices that sometimes evoke a dreamlike atmosphere. The result is a harmonious blend of the past and present, where every detail contributes to a rich and evocative narrative.
